Avalon's Fury's History

Avalon's Fury began December of 2006 in the XBOX 360 game "Chromehounds" as a small online squad.  This small squad grew into a group of friends and family sharing gaming together online in many different online games to include HALO 2, Battlefield 2, and StarCraft.  Avalon's Fury now incorporates all aspects of Game play and Paintball into one team of members with the same goals inline with the teams overall objectives.  Avalon's Fury has become a team of friends and family that believe in the importance of every individual in the team and the diversity that each individual brings to the team.  Avalon's Fury has come to exist as the name our group holds to represent our bond together as friends and Collogues.  Sportsmanship and valor are at the top of Avalon's Fury's list of priorities as we strive to better the game of paintball and the gaming community.  Fury is exist to facilitate the communication and growth of its members.  Our team stands to believe that as its individual members grow and develop there skills, the overall team improves and grows from this as well.  Our team is here because we enjoy paintball and the online games we play.  We maintain an open door policy allowing anyone to come join in on the fun!

TEAM COMMANDER's MISSION STATEMENT

Avalon's Fury's Mission is to engage in the sport of paintball and to enjoy the sport to its fullest.  All of us love to win, but we don't feel like winners if we made the other team feel like crap doing it.  We are here to have a great time with our friends and family.  We actively seek out teams and players who share similar beliefs and interest in paintball and games.  We are constantly trying to recruit more players into our fold, to enhance everyones enjoyment of the sport and game!

"Our team is here to promote the entertainment of the sport of paintball and the gaming experience.  Winning a game alone can be an accomplishment yes, but with no one to share that glory with its pretty empty; but when a team of people come together and commit to having a good time and winning, well thats the stuff that war stories are made of!!!"

INTENT OF PAGE: Please Take note that this page is intended to fully describe every aspect of our team, this is not a "Manual" to our team or anything but a guide and understanding of how our team is managed and organized.  This page does however lay down some guidelines and practices our team adheres and believes in.  This is intended to be a resource for orientating any potential new members and giving our current and senior members a reference point for anything we may need to have an answer for.  In short this is no rule book.  Any time we are asked a question about how Avalon's Fury works and views certain topics, we write it in here, to ensure we hold to what we said in the first place, and to ensure what goes for one, goes for all.

MEMBERSHIP STATEMENT

Avalon's Fury is a team, not a cult, any membership is at the members will, there are no "dues" or monthly membership charges or expectations of any financial obligation involved.  At times our team may be asked to help "chip-in" to get something very expensive, but it is always on a voluntary basis, and any such equipment or gear is the teams property.  One may resign from our team at any time without notifying the Team of there intentions, although it is encouraged to end my harassing phone calls for play dates.  Membership does require participation, so if you are not up on helping the team out, or coming to any of the games we partake in, well there's just not much sense in joining is there?

WHAT WE DO

Avalon's Fury has existed for a long time in the video gaming world.  We pride ourselves in hosting some of the largest game parties in our area.  Since the beginning with HALO CE we defined how you held a HALO party (Lots of PIZZA, CHIPS, POP and Friends).  Now we are a large team working on building our very own game room.  X-Box Live is nice and all, but things are a lot more intense when you and 7 of your HALO 3 buds are over playing on 8 different BOXs with all the TVs and gear and junk layering the floor and walls.  The screaming and yelling doesnt end :).  Paintball is one of our newer advents, and has captured more of our time.  There are many different types of the sport.  So if you are looking to join up with us.  Make sure that you are wanting to join a team bent on playing the type of "ball" that our team is playing.  We are a scenario paintball team.  We partake in all kinds of paintball that involve missions, and objectives (lets face it paintball is much more interesting when your after players for a reason, but thats just me.)  We are not a speedball or tournament team.  We play the sport for our fun and entertainment.  On the gaming end of things we are a recreational/professional team.

TEAM MEMBERSHIP LEVELS OVERVIEW

Avalon's Fury is set up into multiple tiers of players: Staff Officers, Officers,Members, Reserves, Recruites and AlliesThese player groups make up Avalon's Fury and make our trips to our Major Paintball Skirmishes possible.

Recruites are the newbies to our team.  The have shown the desire to join up, but are still in the ole learning curve.  In order to become a recruit, all one must do is to complete the Application form found on our "Contact" page.   This will get you recruited once approved by a staff member.  Your recruitment and online profile will be set up after you attend your first even wtih the team.

Allies are usually recruites that don't participate with the team often, but are still our friends.  Allies also include players that are friends of players on the team that come play with there comrades when we deploy.  Basically Allies are not devoted or in line with the team but we enjoy playing with them the few times we get the chance, and give them some recognition on our site for there contributions here and there.

Members are those of us who pledge there paintball and gaming career to making Fury a success.  These are the people that make our team what it is.  These people fill the primary rolls on the team and have designated positions and jobs on and off the field.  The members voice out and let the command staff know what they will be able to do and give the command staff ideas of events and other fun things to get into.  We do not have a cap on the number of members allowed on our team, but we try to keep one staff officer to every 5 members.

Reserves are either members that are failing to make games for extended periods, thus loosing membership, or are members that are no longer to play with the team on a fully devoted basis, such as active military careers or college.

Staff Officers are those of us who make Fury there life.  Command Members believe in the team so much, that we spend every aching moment of our existence trying to better the team and keep us going.  Command members are responsible for maintaining stats and tracking of its members (we have a little achievement thing going for paintball much like the XBL achievement system) Command Members maintain communication with junior members about game releases and Paintball play dates.  Command members also communicate with its members to see where the team needs to go and what game types its members are looking to get into in the coming months, so everyone knows what we are going to be getting into.

Gamers are those who take to the console and computer gaming end of things.  Gamers participate online and in local parties in a wide varity of team based video games.  For details on joining Avalon Fury's core of gamers read thru the membership lowdown below

To JOIN

Looking to join our team of paintballers and/or gamers???  We try to keep things as simple as possible.  We believe in giving everyone a chance to come out and have some fun with us, so to get started all you need to do is complete our short application found on our contact page.  Once your application has been submitted a Command Staff Officer will contact you via your provided e-mail address and clarify any information on your application and answer any question you may have conserning our team.  If you have previously met with our team and played the sport with (or against) us, and made your interest know to our staff, then you will be inducted into our team as a recruit.  However, If you have never met our team, or haven't made yourself known to us, once your application has been "processed" you will be activated as an ally to our team, pending your first game.  During this process you will most likely be directed to give this page a good skim and be direct to create an account on our online message baord.

A NOTE: We encourage that if you are interested in joining you tell any close friends that play the sport with you on a regular basis to give it some thought.  We have enlisted alot of players into our ranks that later get there friends involved and double there fun.  Take note though, that while we love to see more and more people out there coming to our events and playing on our team.  This is not a team where you can expect to play with who you want to.  Expessially during recruitment periods.  You and your friends will most likely be split up so that you and they will better become part of the team, rather then have your "team" in our team.  We work as one entity on the field, we trade members back and forth and do what is nessecary to win.  I try to make it so that all new recruits have the opportunity to meet and play with all team members during there evaulation period.  We are also not apposed to combining teams.  If you have an exisiting team or group of players that just cannot seem to keep anything consistant with a play schedule and want to hook up with an established team that plays regularly, GREAT!!!  If you are looking for something perminant, ask us about membership.  If you are wanting to stay indepent ask us about becoming allies in the great sport of paintball.  Either way we would love to team up for any outtings!!!

As the Rookie

Once a Recruit, you will be set up on our website, given offical status (newspaper coverage) in games we play and, your games will earn you points (valor) towards promotions.  Valor is earned through participating in events and through "Paintball Achievments" that you will earn and unlock during your career.  As a Recruit or ally the highest rank you can reach is that of a sergeant.  Our Rank scale mirrors the U.S. Army rank scale.  (It is listed in more detail at the end of this page.)

Now in order to keep moving forward to membership, the next step is relatively simple, come play paintball with us on four separate engagements.  One of these four must be a team practice, so that we can better get to know you, and you can interact with the team in a less stressed and rushed environment.  If your going to be on our team, might be a good idea to know who your new friends are right???  One of the four games must be a Big Scenario Game (Major Game) at any paintball park.  The other Two of the four games can be whatever you want and can attend.  For Example you can attend one practice and 3 Major games and be set with the base requirements for membership.

So to put the whole process out In simplest terms:

Play with the team - > Apply -> Fury Recruit -> play 4 games = Membership -> maintain membership thru participation

                                                                       (1 practice/1 major battle)

There is a time limit involved with getting your four games in.  If you fail to participate in four events over the course of a six month period, then we do not feel that you will be able to hold up to the participation requirements anyway, so your status will be dropped back down to an "ally" of fury with a 90 day wait period for reapplying.  We make exceptions, if you meet the qualifications 3 days after the dead line, your good.  But if you play one game with us today, and think that the two you played with the team a year ago add up, well it just doesnt work that way.  Our team is all about participation.

Membership can easliy be attained.  We play at least one event a month, if not more, and one practice every 2 - 4 months.  Once you meet the base member requirements, membership will be granted by the command officers.

NOTE: you have to apply to join and be accepted before any of these games being to count towards membership.  You may have played several games with us, but nothing will count until you apply for membership.

Also to note: The Practice you attend must be held by the Command Staff, The Team Commander MUST BE present for your participation in a practice to count.

FOR PLAYERS NEW TO PAINTBALL

WE WILL GET YOU STARTED WHEN YOU APPLY TO OUR TEAM!!!

As a recruit you are not required to have anything nessecary to play paintball.  The team will be able to support you during practices with a marker, mask and other essentials.  Most fields we attend have rental programs, and can get you outfitted.  One condition for membership is that you have your own equipement and know how to "Tech it" or fix the most common things (adjust velocity to chrono your marker, replace tank o-rings ect).  In the event your marker breaks, we do always bring spares.  So to clairfy you the player must have their own Gear Kit, a Marker, Equipment and any other required things to play (MONEY FOR PAINTBALLS AND AIR ECT).  It is no benefit to have you on the team, if the team has to support you with everything.  We are more then happy to get you started but its a drain on everyone's fun to have to get everything for you, plus clean up your mess on our gear when the day is over.  Lastly All members must be able to travel with us when needed.  In our upcoming season, we plan to hit fields from South Carolina to New Jersey.

Nothing is gauranteed with our team.  These are simply guidlines we tend to adhere to.  During your recruit period, you are being evaulated on how well you fit into our teams beilefs and standards.  Our team stands to promote fair play, sportsmanship and the fun and entertainment of its members.  The moment the sport stops being fun, is the point where changes are made.  We do not care how talented a player you are, or for how many years you have played the sport.  Our goal is to maintain a repuation of fair play, winning spirt and FUN!!!  Our team is all about having a good time with friends.  We love to win, and play every game as hard as we can to achieve victory.  We promote teamwork and communication, so trash talking, negative comments conserning teammates and simple and gross unsporting attitudes have no place on our team.  Basically if we find you to be a good honist player, who can handle it when things don't turn out the way you want it, your a good player to us.  We do not care how many players you can eliminate, only that you can have fun with the rest of us playing the sport we all love!  If you simply aren't on board with the team on the battlefield, we will extend your recruit status and allow more time to teach you teamwork basics and the sport.  If you are simply a player that refuses to be a team player and have fun on the field, or a hot head, well we are not going to waste our time.

What to look forward to as a Member

You will be given more access to more sensitive areas on our message board.  You will have access to discount codes through RAP 4 Paintball, our primary gear vendor and sponsor.  You will have the opportunity to purchase a team jersey and other team apperal.  You will have access to all our "team equipement" (Our team radios, Access to use and be trained on one of our the LAW Rocket Launchers).  As well as access to a host of other inside deals and bargans our members have access to through various companies.  On the field you will be able to request a posting in one of our other fire teams, rather then be placed on our front line team you may request to be on the missions or strike team.  Once you are accepted in as a member you will be assigned a Fire Team Position that best defines your play style.  You will be coached by the team commander, and fire team leaders on how to be more effective playing in that position.  You can change positions within a fire team at any time, and are encouraged to play each position to gain insite.  If you are wanting to play a certain position, there is a good bit of advice your fire team leader and team commander can help you with to improve your ability to play that style

How to maintain Membership

To maintain active membership with our team, you must continue to participate in team events and activities.  Avalon's Fury is all about active participation in MAJOR team events.  We go to as many events a year as our members can get time off for and afford the cost of.  However if a member goes more then 3 months without participating in a Major Game, Active membership will be suspended and reduced to "RESERVE" Membership Status.  As a reserve, your rank and points are not effected.  You will have 3 months to participate in 2 games to restore your active membership.  While a Reserve, you will loose all membership benefits as well as inside access to some of our message board.  While your rank is preseved, it will not be held over active memebers, an active private can out-rank a reserved captain (this is not the case if you are awarded special reserve status).  You will earn Valor for games and events at a reduced rate of 75% of normal until your membership is either restrored or reduced further.

After another 3 months of no or poor participation, your membership will be canceled and your status will be dropped back to "ALLY".  As an Ally you are required to recomplete the membership requirements as if you were a recruit again.  You will only earn 50% of any Valor accumulated and your rank will be reduced to Sergeant until you are able to regain membership status.

If after another 3 months (9 months total) with no or little attempt to participate in team activites or events, your account will be deleted and applicaiton canceled and placed a hold of 90 days until you are able to reapply.

Membership is as simple as participating in major events.  Practices are not considered Major Events.  See our listing of Game Types below to learn more.

Special Reserve statusSpecial Reserve status is awarded in special cases where participation requirements will not be able to be attained, such as active military or college students.  Special Reserve Status is Awarded on a case by case basis and will preseve membership until a time that the member is able to participate actively again.  Completing 2 games in three months  once active status is saught, is still required to return to active status.

= Video Gaming Team =

Paintball is not the only way into Avalon's Fury.  We are a gaming team too...although much of our team is dedicated more towards paintball then huge gaming venues...We do want and recruit gamers too!!!   We do love to get online with the friends we have made online, but membership really boils down to how well you work with the team, and how well the team works with you.  Gamers require alot of service time and again, participation with the team.  Fury has a shrinking base in the video game realm, so dedicated, clean cut individuals willing to stand with our team across the nation, is a pretty hard thing to find.

Membership with Avalon Fury's Video Gaming Team will be seperated from membership with the paintball team starting new in January 2010.  Applying to join the paintball team will not "grandfather" you into the gaming team.  Any paintball players interested in joining the gaming team should make the command staff aware of this during there recruitment process.  All persons intersted in joining the gaming team wether soley or in conjunction with paintballing should email commander becky (contacts page).  Signing up for the message board will also provide access to our gaming message boards.  Game dates and online activites are posted on our board with constant updates.  In order to make into membership with our gaming team a recruit must play in four games in 2 months time.  We average 4 gaming parties a month (every sunday) so lack of play dates is never an issue.  In order to remain on the gaming team, only one a game a month is required.  Membership is reviewed at the end of every month.  Members not meeting membership requirements are reduced to ally status and stats are no longer tracked.

What is the advantage to paintballers to join the gaming team also?  Valor points are earnable thru attending gaming events.  As a member you could earn a maximum extra of 160 points a month from video gaming parties...this is more then enough to give you a huge boost over your teammates and offer you a faster track to promotion, not to mention the array of video gaming achievements we have come up with to complement XBL's existing achievement system.

Okay so we have this kewl gaming team, but what games do we play...good question.  New titles are coming out all the time.  Our team began with its roots deep into the HALO and BATTLEFIELD Series.  Our members have enjoyed First Person Shooters since the idea of FPS came into creation (about the same time as HALO right???).  Avalon's Fury has a list of games we have approved for our gaming parties.  Games must pass threw a variety of credentials to be awarded "Fury Approved" status.  We look at games for the obvious, its multiplayer, thus in order for any game to be on our list, it must have a multiplayer.  Games with limited multiplayer (campaign only) fill up the small gaming parties, while games with large scale multiplayer (HALO, COD, BF:BC) dominate large multiplayer parties.  The other specifications include how many of our members have the game, how popular the game is and so forth.  So a game like HALO or BATTLEFIELD Bad company make it in the list by being very popular title and good multiplayer games.  We have a good sized list of games we have approved for our game dates.  Dont see a game on our venues...ask about it, you might generate some interest in the title.  The below our are core game titles:

HALO 3

GEARS OF WAR 2

COD MW 2

BATTLEFIELD: BAD COMPANY

CHROMEHOUNDS

HALO ODST

GEARS OF WAR

COD 4 MW

BATTLEFIELD 2 MODERN COMBAT

BATTLEFIELD: BAD COMPANY 2

For everyone's online referance, Fury stands in the professional and recreational grade of play.  We may not always be family approved, but we are far from the trash-talking potty-mouthed junkies that inhabit the underground slums of gaming.

"When you have to kill a man, it costs nothing to be polite."

Good Member Habits

Staying up-to-date on team events is essential in membership.  We have a huge array of communications media avalible for you to stay up to date with.  The Primary source for team information is our Message Board and Website (Website is more show and tell).  Each month events are taking place, so it is recommended that you check our site at least once a week, so that you dont miss out on important information.  Alot of times, events may be spontaneous, and if you don't check for new post on the board day to day, youll miss out.  The more often you can check our message board the better.

Our command staff wieghs in your involvement on the message board (actually posting and interacting, not just logging in) very heavily on your participation with the team. (Active Field Participation is the only thing that will keep your membership though).  You may be notified by phone or email, if I have seen that you have not logged into the message board for awhile, I do my part to keep you informed of the teams intentions and "happenings", but I rely heavily on your motivation to check constantly to get the information accross.

Message Board Usage

By becoming interested in membership in Avalon's Fury you are encouraged to sign up for access to our Team Message Board.  We encourage anyone who knows us to get on our board and see what we are into, its a great idea for team members as this is our primary and most effective means of contact.  Our message board is always teeming with activity, and host a wide array of information from our game dates to barrel and marker reviews.  We pride ourselves in having a group of members that know what the good stuff is and provide an A+ enviroment to discuss each others gear choices.  It always helps to have that extra opinion before you buy.

Avalon's Fury stands to provide a clean and respectable media for anyone to use and benefit from.  Our message board is censored so that no adult language is displayed, this prevents someone from making an account to just get on and cause problems.  If you are new to us, and want to check things out, get on register an account and introduce yourself, once we know who you are, you will have access to more then just our "public" board which host little more then team info and intro, and games we are planning.  Once registered, simply either post up and let us know who you are, or send "Admiral Nick" a PM with your true identity so that you account may be modified.

We will not tolerate anyone coming to our board to "flame" its members or to present themselves in anything but a sporting, professional manner.

Planning for Games

Our Message board was designed solely to provide a medium to inform the team and staff which games we will be played and if you will be attending.  As well as yo provide you with a full listing of what the game intells, cost, location, websites and anything else we can find.  Under each Game in our "Paintball Deployment Schedule" Board, there will be several topics conserning who is coming and where they will be playing.  These topics include the game "deployment overview board", which list all members, officers, recruits, everyone and there OPT-IN (fansy for HEY IM COMING) status for that particular game.  This topic also list specifics like field position, amount of paint, registered status and so on.  The other main boards include the "FIRE TEAMs" board which shows the relative disposition and composition of our forces and where/what you can expect to be and be doing on the field for that game.  The last and most imporatant board is the "OPT IN BOARD".  This is where you may post up to notify the team of your intentions for that particular event.  OPTING IN for a game in some format is required for you to recieve any points or use any team materials for the event.  Almost all of our games are planned out to details months in advance of the play date.  There is at least 3 months notice for MAJOR games.  OPTING in early sets our team up for success as stratiges and tactics can be planned out more completely and without to many variables.  While you are more then welcome to E-mail, call or PM ME (Admiral Nick) on the message board with your intentions to come, using the message board is the best way.  As long as we know we can count on you to show up for the game is all that really counts in the end.  All achievements and rewards are completed in the exact same fashion over the message board.  The message board is critical in recieving recognition and credit for achievements earned during the day.  Any accomondations for contact may be made.

So in summary

->Event is announed well in advanced.

->A board is created on our message board for discussions about the event around 3 months before the event is to take place.

->Players OPT IN for the game (by either posting up, emial, calling the team commander ect) and are assigned to fire teams/field positions

->Strategies and Tactics are hashed out and the team is made aware of any plans.  This typically involves pregame chat meetings on our message board.

->The game Is played.

->After the game a topic is started and member post up any achievements they earned during the event

->Our teams data sheet is updated and posted on our site under the "INTEL" Tab

Message board rules

Our message board only has two main rules: post under the correct topics and dont start a new topic unless there is nothing to describe what you want to talk about.  Alot of times topics shift topics as post go on.  Do your best to start a new topic if you want to discuss something not relevant to the current discussion.  The second being to keep post clean.  Do not flame other members or use our message board to post up any negative comments or misgivings.  If you have a serious problem with another team members personality.  Please keep any arguments off the board and talk either directly to the opposing party or to the team's commander about the issue.  We don't play childish little games on our board.  We are all mature adults here, reguardless the age.

= Codes of Conduct =

Members on our team are expected to maintain themselves in an acceptable fashion with the communities and individuals we come into contact with.  Members are not people who degrade other players or make fun of, annoy, pester, intentionally aggravate, behave immaturely, practice practical joking, have a hard time with saying anything nice.  All jokes aside, our team doesn't tolerate inappropriate childish behavior, we are all mature adults and we know how to have a blast without hurting anyone emotionally, physically, spiritually or economically to do so.  Anyone behaving in such a manor will never be allowed to join our team, and may be restricted from playing with our team at all.

Member Probation and Removal

Other then loosing membership based on poor participation, poor sportsmanship is about the only other way to involuntarily be removed from the team.

Poor sportsmanship,  being towards the team or other players, is intollerable.  We call get mad at certain circumstances.  Under such an infraction all members of the command staff must vote to remove a member from Avalon's Fury before it is possible.  In the event that the command staff cannot agree to remove the member or not the issue will be appealed to the entire body of Fury, which will be allowed to act as a jury. If 3/4s of Fury's members decide on the member's removal the member will be permantly removed from the team.  If the 3/4s vote is not passed, the member will be allowed to remain a team member, with the warning that further unbecomming actions will lead to dismissal by the Team Commander.  Under this type of dismember ship, ally or recruit status is not awarded, instead the ex-member is placed on a 90 day ban period, at which time they may request to rejoin normal team activities and work back up from there.  Once removed all prestige and valor is lost, where as lack of participation strips the member of rank until they are able to be reinstated.  (AS a note: Poor sportsmanship must be defined as gross misconduct, (rude or threatening behavior, malice towards the team and its members, slander, ECT...) Simple aggravation for "getting" killed during battle will not be considered as this is heat of the moment anger.  However members will be coached to show good sportsmanship on the field, and continued out burst will not be condoned.  (Dismissal is unlikely in this case, but possible to you make the team look like a bunch of @$$ holes doing it!) Pain is part of the sport, deal with it in a positive manner and report any claims of other players poor sportsmanship or cheating to your TCO so it may be reported to the ref.

Failure to attend an event you have OPT-IN for will result in the loss of 100 points of valor and a reduction in your PAG on the first instance, second instance we reduce your rank and remove membership benefits, Third instance we boot you from the team.  We plan heavily for events, by stating your coming and then dont show up throws everything out and hurts the team worse then anything.  If you cannot make an event, state so, dont lead us on with false intentions.

= Appearl =

Our team prefers that your gear and clothes be of a camoflauging nature.  This is not a nessesity, but if you are dieing to play on our stealth mission team, fraid you just wont cut it in a bright pink shirt with a red marker and shorts.  We prefer Digital Woodland for supreme consealment, but preferance is about 85% of the choice in your idea of good camo, its all about how you play that makes the camo effective.

Jerseys

All official members, or well established recruits/allies are given the opportuntiy to purchase a team jersey or other team apperal from the team commander.  These jerseys are optional to membership and are not a requirement to being on the team.  Individual orders start in the price range of 60 dollars with optional upgrades to the jersey including elbow and shoulder pads for additional cost.  These jerseys host your call sign and team number on the back and left sleeve.  The team patch is displayed on the right sleeve.  These jerseys function superior to normal jerseys.  They are made from 100% polyester and use technology consistant with underarmor to keep you cool in the summer and warm in the winter.  Our Jeresy Design is based around a hybred idea of good camo, with good team visablity off the field.  The jersey's sleaves are a modified Marpat Pattern that offers increased conselment in jungle-like terran.  These Jerseys are designed so that a tactical vest will cover most all of the "flashy" areas of the jersey, leaving on the camo pattern and subdued Team and Member name visable.

A notice about the team jersey:  Avalon's Fury's Team jerseys are the design of EYE2EYE which has given this team full rights to there work which produced our jeresys and team symbol.  These jerseys represent Fury and all the effort that has made Avalon's Fury what it is today.  Our Jersesys are not signpost for other companies to sell there products off of.  The Avalon's Fury Jerseys stands only to represent the team.  Avalon's Fury stands by the policy that we represent a company by the gear and equipement we use.  We do a very good job at show and tell on all our equipement, and do whatever companies gear we use all the justice it deserves.

Pants

We prefer dark color paintball pants (we current hold the Olive PROTO pants as our uniform pant) for all our opperations.  Military BDU's offer superior camoflauge, but sometimes at the cost of mobility in sticky situations.  BDUs can be found at just about any surplus store, and there are several links to sites that offer military clothing online.

You will need to have some kind of ball halling gear kit.  Personnally I hate hip packs as they are usually combersom difficult to find that "happy spot".  Our team has adopted the RAP4 TAC TEN vest for all our ball and gear carring needs.  These come in about a dozen different camo patterens and are about 200% adaptable to meet whatever needs your play style needs.  About 10 of us use this sytem now, and you will hear nothing but praise from us about them!

Custom Accessories

Custom Vest panels with our team name and your Call Sign may be purchased from me, through Flurry Industries.  For orders of more then one member, the Cost is only 15 bucks, and 20 bucks for individual orders.  This price includes both a custom call sign name plate, and the Avalon's Fury Team Panel.  These are designed primarily for vest, but may be worn on any fabric that Velcro will stick too.  (These have the teeth side of the Velcro on them)

The Gun

If you are just starting out or are new to rec/woodsball.  We sugget that you choose your marker wisely.  Tippmann of course is the dominate name brand of the woodsball relm.  These markers live well up to there name of being indestructable and 110% reliable.  You think there joking about droping them in the water and wow they still work...Im proof, I clean mine in my bathtub!  There are also many nice tactical markers produced by companies such as BT and Smart Parts to list a couple.  Keep in mind that a scenario or tactical marker is designed for woodsplay.  I have seen many-a-players attempt to use these markers with 30+ bps speedball markers fly well short of there target, while a standard Tippmann 98 can hit them down range no problem at the same speed.  Speedball guns are effective on the field, no doubt, but keep in mind that even with a 20" barrel, you will not get the same range as a scenario marker.  (There are always more modificaitons you can make to a speedball gun to solve the issue, itll just cost you to do it.  This is purely my opinion and obervations! take it for what its worth. )

Shoes and Footwear

Footwear becomes perhaps the most important part of your gear kit when extended time of your feet becomes an issue to think about.  Our team uses a wide varity of footwear to combat fatigue.  Most of us use combat boots, other prefer cleats or good running shoes.  Good shoes are really dependant on the wearer, but its something that you will want to afford a bit of money into to keep your feet in the game.  After all it does no good to have a 1000 bucks into your paintball gear and where a 10 dollar pair of walmart shoes and only last 30 minutes into the game before your feet are blistered.  I used to have horrable foot pains and be forced to take the bench often during long scenarioes.  I have recently discovered a company called MAGNUM boots and all my problems have been solved.  With the boots featured on there site and a good pair of under armor socks, I believe your feet could hold up longer then a tippmann marker if put to the test.

Leadership Positions

Team Commander: The team commander of Fury bears the responsibility to maintain the command staff and to felicitate fair play and sportsmanship of Fury's Members.  Our team is set up a lot like our government in this mannor, with the command staff acting as the legislature and the members as our justice system, the TCO would be the president, but in this set up, he has full authority which cannot be vetoed or over rulled.  The TCO must be a very supporting individual that uses this power to push the team forward and keep the team strait on game dates and missions on the field.

Team Leader: This individual holds the highest rank on the battlefield and when Fury is in a jam about what to do, he has the motivation to call the shot.  This individual is most often the Team Commander (TCO) but not always.  Under certain battlefield conditions such as the elimination of the TCO the TCO will appoint a new Team Leader (TLD), or if the TCO is not present for an engagement requiring a TCO a TLD may be appointed to lead the team.

Fire Team Leader: This individual is appointed during battlefield operations, these are officers (or highest ranking enlisted man) that are charged with leading a task force against a certain objective on the field, whether it be a mission or other order to carry out an objective to meet the overall goal of the team.

Field Positions

Avalon's Fury uses three main positions to fill out its fire teams

Pivotman: The pivot man is typically the action junkies of the group, or the light riflemen of a tactical team.  The pivotman is what we call our flankers, as they pivot off the point man or medium riflemen to out manuver and establish superior shooting angles on our targets

Pointman: The bait, eyes and ears of the fire team.  The pointman leads the way and keeps on the lookout for the baddies.  the point man is a player that knows how to hit the dirt and let his buddies do there jobs rather then getting caught up in a 50-50 fire fight.  The pointmen typcially do there job by keeping the OPFOR busy while there pivotmen slip to the side for the kill shot.

Suppressor: The Suppressor, suppresses the baddies the fire team encounters.  There primary job is to deny the enemy the abiltiy to return fire.  Supressors boast insane rates of fire as well as enough ordinanace to create a small artillery strike of paint.

General Positions

Team Support Positions

Mercenaries: Mercenaries are players that are not loyal to Fury, but devote themselves to our cause for a day, then are gone, but may return whenever they choose, Mercenary status is not something can be asked for, it is simply a label that categorizes some of the people we have played with.

Allied Teams: These are teams of individuals that support Avalon's Fury's growth and actions.  Fury is currently looking for more teams to support, and to support us as we endeavor to make the game of paintball as fun and exciting as it can be.

Allied Gamers: These are the online friends Fury has enlisted to support our online campaigns

= Game Types =

We deploy to several different classes of paintball.  Our team and staff have a classification of each type of deployment for purpose of an accurate point scale (A backyard game of 2 v 2 pales in comparison to the intensity of 200 players vs. 200 players battling it out over 20 acres of land in a 24 hour Scemario.  So the below system was designed.

Deployement Valor Rules: As stated Previously a Command Staff Officer must be present at an engagement/practice/any event for it to count as an Avalon's Fury Event, so that participation and achievement valor will count for that day of paintball.  In addition to this rule, as a rule the command staff must provide at least one weeks notice of any paintball related activity that will count for valor points (more then a week is always provided, but this rule exist as a check on the command staff so that we cannot just make events whenever we want and hurt members participation ratings.)
Video Gaming events are very planned and typically held on the same day and time each week (sundays around 2ish)

EXERCISE

Dry Fire Exercise: These are exercises that involve mostly battle tactics and discussion about paintball.

Marksmanship Exercise: These exercise do not focus on combat, rather they are test of marker handling

Live Fire Exercise: These are exercises that involve live combat but are mostly for practice, Mostly 1v1 or 2v2.

MINOR SKIRMISH

Minor Skirmishes or Sorté: These are battles that have very few people and are hosted locally.  These are also referred to as Local Skirmishes.

Minor Scenario: These games are played with a storyline, but involve very few people in comparison to a big game, and are played locally, usually hosted by our team.

MAJOR SKIRMISH

Major Skirmishes or Sorté: These are battles that are fought outside of our controlled fields and are completed on someone else’s fields.  Major skirmishes are regulated by a business and refereed.  Normally these are our outta state games.

Big Games: These are battles that are hosted at other fields, they are comparable to Major skirmishes, but are completed in a scenario sense.

Field Premier: These are engagments fought at a Paintball Park Fury has never previously played at.  These are the only major skirmish that do not count towards team participation.  These games are usually played more to provide the team recon on the field...more or less testing it out before we book a Scenario Game at that field.

COMPETITION

Challenge: These are games of Team vs. Team.  This class would include any team activity that pits us directly against another team, such as a small  3 v 3 back yard brawl between teams or a larger 10 v 10 game.  If its one team on one team, its a challenge.

Tournament: Big get together with many teams in a huge competitive contest to win.  Lost of teams, possible prises. (usually SPPL based)

SCENARIO

24-HR Scenario: These games are completed over the extent of a 2 day period involving many hours of paintballing.  These games are set into a deep scenario or plot with missions and characters.  (much like a paintball movie)

TRUE 24-HR Scenario: This is the real deal, 24 hours of strait scenario paintball.

Extended Scenario: These scenario games last for more then a day, up to an entire week.

No matter what class of play it is you will only recieve points towards your Fury Career as long as at least one Command Officer of Fury is Present.  Points for participating in these games increase based upon there class, with smallest valor gain was listed first where the 24 hour Scenarios having the maximum so far of 100 points for participating in the entire Scenario.  More Versions of paintball battle classes are being evolved as we partake in different battle forms of the sport.

Video Game Types

Commander Becky heads up the gaming end of our team.  Any comments or questions should be directed to her via the message board

X-BOX LIVE PARTY: These are the bread and butter of our gaming schedule.  XBL events are held just about once a week on our game day.  XBL events are classifed into small and large parties depending on the player volume.  (5 or more = Large event which is worth double the points)

LOCAL PARTY: The classic Fury class of party.  These are played locally with everyone present in person via a system link vs playing over X-Box live.  These parties are our personnal favorite.  WE attempt to have one a month at a predetermined location.  Local events are classifed into small and large parties depending on the player volume.  (5 or more = Large event which is worth double the points)

Challenge: A team of video gamers challenged Fury to a Battle. (50 points for a win)

Promotions and Valor

To be promoted from the rank of Recruit the player must meet the specifications of membership and obtain enough of a valor score to advance to the next ranking.  Valor is earned from participating in paintball battles that fury recongizes.  Participation is a great way be earn valor points but the fast track to promotion is thru earning extra points in battlefield achievements, such as medals for defense and offense attacks.  When an enlisted player reaches enough valor to bring them to the next level, they are automatically promoted to that rank after the skirmish is over.  The ranking system is a derivation of the Army grade system as all of our engagements are fought on soil and since paintball has an army outlook on the game.

VALOR: Points earned by participating in paintball or gaming events and points earned for achievements.  Your valor is added up after a paintball or gaming event and added to your running total.  Valor is the sole requirement for all of Avalon's Fury's standard grades.  Increasing your valor thru participation and achievements leads to increases in rank with our team.

P.A.G: although much more sophisticated then valor, PAG is your Points for Achievments per Game.  To make it simple enough.  PAG is your average Achievement Points (or valor same thing [points=valor]) for all the "MAJOR" games you participate in.  PAG also takes into account your major skirmish participation rating to curve the results.

Look at it like this: you attend a Big Game with our team and you get 3 big game achievements each worth 25 points.  Participating at the Big game gets you 60 Valor + the 75 Points worth of Achievments gets you a 135 Valor Score, but your PAG for that game would only count the achievements thus you would have a 75 PAG for that game.  If you play in a second big game and get 2 Big Game achievments, now you have 245 Valor, but your PAG will go down to 62.5 PAG (75 from the first game + 50 from the second divided by the total number of games [2])

As I stated a bit more sophisticated, but this is used to Gauge how well you do at our Major Games...more achievements always mean you were in more of the action, and acting as a member of the team, rather then a lone wolf with your own agenda...we reward heftily for team play!!!  P.A.G. Unlocks the higher more prestigous ranks in Avalon's Fury.  With a high enough PAG rating you can enter the Warrent Officer Rankings, and become an officer faster, rather then staying an enlistedmen.  Extremely High PAG ratings is the only way into the General Grades.

Recruit: Here players get an introduction to the team.  Valor is rewarded same as an enlisted member, recruits may rank up when they meet valor requirements, only catch is that they dont recieve any of the rank pins or nice things that team members do.  Recruits cannot rank up past the rank of Sergeant though, even if they accumulate 6000 points, they will remain a sergeant until they meet the criteria for membership.  (if you are demoted from membership, you fall back into a recruite status, as a Sergeant, until you prove you are supporting the team.

Enlistedmen: Enlistedmen are those who meet the requirements for active membership and hold a battlefield rank from Private to Command Sergeant Major.  Enlistedmen are expected to support the team on all of its major skirmishes and attend as many team practices as possible.  Enlisted members are expected to primarily to aide with recruiting more players into the team.

Officers: Officers are the leaders on the field.  All officers are not only required to earn the valor required to reach the level of Warrent Officer Grade one, but must be authorized for promotion by the Team Commander.  Officers will continue to earn valor in the same mannor as in an enlisted rank

Point Multiplier: Once a member reaches the rank of 2nd Lt, they then qualify for the Point Multiplier.  Officer Ranks are almost impossible to rank through.  According to the research we did on our system.  It will take an average of 3-5 years to reach the next officer grade.  We feel that officer ranks should be more challenging to increase through.  But we also feel that there should be a way to increase that rate.  We came up with the squad multiplier.  For this challenge we currently use the existing Officer test, provided by Special Ops Paintball.  If an officer scores above a 80% on the test, the multiplier is activated, and the officer will begin to earn 1.5 times the number of points for valor.

Rank Scale: Below is a list of the valor score required to reach the next grade.  Please note that this system is under constant revision as a "good" system is being refined as members are promoted through the ranks, what’s a fair rank for the number of engagements one has played in is still being researched.

Achievements

Achievements are earned on the battlefield and during practices.  There are a number of different classes of achievements ranging from merit from lifetime participation with the team to recieving a commendation for a swift flank you pulled off.  Its important to know the basics about the achievements and how they work so you don't miss out on anything.

Player Achievements are optional.  These are achievements that you can earn for "sniper" kills, grenade frags, triple kills and so on.  Your Team Leader will not be able to keep track of all 15 people on the field and wether or not somebody got a triple kill or not.  You are able to report these awards on the online message board after the game has ended, or make a listing of all your deeds and submit it to an officer at the end of the day of play.  A list is posted on the message board after every major skirmish to let you know which "personnal" achievements were up for grabs that day.  Obviously if there was no tank in play, you cant get a tank killer achievement...the awarding of these achievements is under the descression of the Team Commander at all times.  If the teams memory and stories of the events, dont add up to what needed to be done to get the achievement, it may not be awarded, or you may not understand all of the conditions nessecary to unlock that award.  For instance, some achievements can only be unlocked once in your career and cannot be awarded for every game you play.  (i.e. A bayonet efficiency Bar requires two surrenders in one day, it can only be earned once during your career with the team.)

Team Achievements are given out by the Team Leaders/Commander.  Team achievements include all Big Game Achievements and commendations, and most ribbons.

Medals are only awarded by the Team Commander.  Medals require die hard proof things happend.  There are two different kinds of Medals.  Service Medals are rewarded for your duration of service, and style of service.  Field Medals are awarded for more specific deeds, like superior team defenses and so on.

The Big thing to keep in mind with achievements is that they count towards your valor, and valor is a count of your loyalty and honisty with the team.  The team commander awards you whatever achievements you state that you earned.  If you are caught boasting to other team members about cheating our loyalty system and falsly creating your record, you will be expelled from Avalon's Fury.  This is ment to be fun and challenging.  Cheating and reporting deeds that you did not complete defeats the purpose.  This system requires that you honisty want to complete these achievements.

The creation of new achievements is constantly on-goining.  Just about every time we depoly we come up with a new achievement or revise the system to make it better or more streamlined.  If you ever have a suggest on a new achievement, feel free to pass your idea along.  The only reason we have these are to give us something to stive for rather then playing the same old game all the time, we like to mix it up and do something new.

As far as I know there are no other paintball teams that offer this indepth of an achievement and point system in there team.  All ideas, charts, layouts and documents found on this website are the property of Nick Branham and cannot be copied, used or modified with out written permission.  All achievements there usage and system is the sole idea of Team Avalon's Fury and are copy righted as such ownership as provided by true of statement in this text.
